Tennessee Ranks 5th… (not a good thing)

Tennessee ranks fifth nationally in releases of toxic chemicals into the air, and some plants that create the state’s largest amounts of toxic waste are in the Midstate, a new federal report said. The hundreds of chemicals - all self-reported and legal - include acetone, hydrochloric acid and mercury. The inventory is not a measure of pollution or danger, government officials said.

While much goes into landfills, more than 99 million pounds statewide went into the air or water, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Tennessee - ranking high lately:  Lady Vols rank 1st in NCAA Womens Basketball, now 5th in toxic chemical release - not quite the same prestige.

Ever wonder why some are willing to pay more for bottled water than gasoline?  After reading this I now know why.  You might want to get one of these new refrigerator water filters from Brita.  This lets you have filtered water (and ice) directly from the door.  No we won’t have to keep filling up the filter pitcher and can take back some space inside the fridge.
